Episode 87 – Shaping Web Sustainability with the W3C
In this episode, we dive deep into what the W3C Web Sustainability Guidelines are, how they were created, and why they matter. We explain who is using them, and how they’re being adopted, as well as what we can learn from the development of standards in other parts of the industry.
To help in this task, the W3C recently hired Tzviya into a full time role as the sustainability lead, and part of her job is to help shepard the work on Sustainable Web through the standards process, so it can be adopted more widely across the web. As one of the people responsible for getting the epub format adopted for ebooks and through the standards process, she’s one of the best people to speak to, and she also explains why the formation of the new W3C Sustainable Web interest group is a big deal.
